Blackboard offline 15th to 16th Feb 2010

Blackboard will be offline from 5pm on 15th February to 12 noon on 16th February (UK time), so the new database servers can be put in.

This is part of the VLE upgrade project which will improve the responsiveness and capacity of the system. That is, performance should be faster, and it will be better able to maintain performance when there are hundreds of users logged in at the same time.

Note: this date has been put back a week from the earlier version of this announcement (change made 18/1/10).
