Discipline-focused Learning Technology Enhancement Academy 2009

This is a new iniative from the Higher Education Academy, to encourage departments/disciplines in their use of technology-enhanced learning (the currently fashionable term for what we’ve known as ‘e-learning’).

” Beginning in October 2009, the Academy is introducing a discipline-based organisational
development programme as part of its Enhancing Learning through Technology (ELT)
programme. Participating subject departments in HEFCE funded higher education institutions will be
supported by their respective Subject Centre.

Aim

To support subject-focused department teams based in HEFCE funded higher education institutions,
a maximum of 1 departmental team per Subject Centre, in the use of technology to enhance learning,
teaching and assessment practices with a view to increasing institutional capacity in alignment with
HEFCE’s policy statement: Enhancing Learning and Teaching through the use of Technology1
(ELTT). Drawing on the policy statement’s implementation framework, this programme will help to
provide a discipline focus to institutional change strategies at a departmental level in order to
maximise the use of technology to enhance learning, teaching and assessment in the disciplines.”

At QM we’re now at a stage where departments are looking at how e-learning can be implemented consistently across their discipline, so this scheme might fit quite well with what some of you are doing.

If you’re in a QM department looking seriously at your use of e-learning and think you might like to apply for this, and would like some help from the Distance and E-Learning Unit, please contact me on s.brenton@qmul.ac.uk.

Will do. We’re actually giving this site something of an overhaul behind the scenes, so hopefully it should be more comprehensive and more useful.

We’ll keep posting things about new intitiatives, conferences, grants etc.

I have been looking looking around for this kind of information. Will you post some more in future? I’ll be grateful if you will.
