About Us
The Distance and E-Learning Unit in ESD is the first point of contact for QM staff and students who are interested in e-learning and distance learning.
Do get in touch with us for help with and advice on anything involving the use of IT in learning (minute or complex, individual or Faculty-wide, technical or pedagogic). We’ll get back to you within one working day, and if we’re not the right people to speak to we’ll put you in touch with those who are.
Examples of things you can approach us for:
- Advice about how you can use e-learning to improve your course or address particular educational issues
- Advice about an existing e-learning idea you have – we can help you refine and realise it
- Consultancy on how you can implement an e-learning strategy at a departmental or school level, so that students have a consistent experience across their programme of study
- Early advice about how to gain approval for a new distance learning course, and access to our expertise about how to teach successfully at a distance
- Ways to share your ideas and work with others at QM and beyond
- Advice about launching or advancing IT initiatives that have anything to do with learning
- Free use of our e-learning studio
- Access, training and pedagogic guidance about using the College’s VLE, which we run for all staff and students at QM, and other learning technologies
- Help with various classroom technologies
- Funding for e-learning initiatives
See also ‘Services‘ and ‘Technologies‘ on this website, and do browse our articles and blog posts for ideas about how to use e-learning in your own work. Then, if you want to try something, or have done something of interest in this area, do get in touch with us.
